CoolSculpting FAQ

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a non-invasive procedure to remove those stubborn, excess deposits of fat that you just can’t seem to lose despite diet and exercise. The science behind CoolSculpting is called Cryolipolysis, which quite literally means “freezing fat.

During the CoolSculpting procedure, a non-invasive applicator delivers precisely controlled cooling to the treatment area to specifically target underlying fat, leaving surface skin tissue unaffected. When fat cells are exposed to cold, a process of natural removal is triggered, which gradually reduces the thickness of the fat layer. The result is a visible reduction in fat bulges.

How long is the downtime with CoolSculpting?

Because CoolSculpting is non-invasive, patients usually resume daily activities, including work and exercise, immediately after treatment.

How much of my fat will I use and when will I see results?

On average, each CoolSculpting procedure results up to 20% reduction of fat in the treated areas. Results can show as early as three weeks post treatment, with the best results occurring after two to our months.

Are there side effects?

Some patients may experience slight discomfort at the beginning of the procedure, as you may feel sensations of tingling, aching and intense cold. However, this normally subsides after a few minutes as the area becomes numb. Following the procedure, patients may feel tender in the areas that were worked on, but these symptoms will abate within a few days or weeks. All side effects are local; there are no risks to other parts of the body.
